WHY PASTORAL COUNSELING?

Pastoral Counseling blends traditional therapy with a spiritual dimension. Many people need a safe space to reflect on their belief systems and learn how these systems interact to bring about wholeness.

FAITH DECONSTRUCTION/

RECONSTRUCTSION

Sometimes the faith of our childhood is no longer serving us well. Deconstruction is the process of taking apart belief systems and evaluating their meaning to us. This process can be both liberating and frightening. It can be helpful to have someone walk alongside us through the journey.

WHAT IF I'M NOT RELIGIOUS?

It is not necessary to hold religious beliefs to benefit from Pastoral Counseling. People of all faiths - or no faith - can benefit. It is not the job of the counselor to promote any particular faith or belief system, but to help the seeker find what feels true to them, and that which promotes the health of body, mind, and spirit.

QUEER-AFFIRMING THERAPY

As a gay religious professional, I affirm love in all its expressions and orientations. Although society has progressed, we can still find ourselves surrounded by misunderstanding and even hostility. Sharing our struggles strengthens us both.

TELEHEALTH

Sessions are conducted online. If you’ve used Zoom or FaceTime, you’re already familiar with the process. I use Google Meet, which is secure and private. No one can join the conversation unless they are invited.

You will need a computer with an internet connection, and a working camera and microphone. Most laptops have these built in, or an inexpensive camera/mic unit can be used with a desktop computer. Choose a place that’s comfortable and private.
